The Story<\/h2>\n

The first Vinylize frame was carved by hand from a 12″ Creedence Clearwater Revival album and held together with cigar box hinges. In 2000, Zachary Tipton hit the road to find a way to manufacture frames made from records. Currently over three tons of records are processed yearly into eyewear and accessories, but our goal remains the same: to make exceptional eyewear that speaks for it’s self.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vinylize recycles more than 3 tons of vinyl records yearly. The A-Design and Red Dot award winning collection strives to creatively\u00a0recycled glasses\u00a0<\/span>using this culturally rich material. Since the introduction of the Columbia 12-inch \u201clong play\u201d 33\u2153 rpm microgroove record in 1948, thousands if not milions of tons of vinyl records have been pressed. Their popularity declined with the advent of the cassette and later the CD. Streaming music was supposed to be the last nail in the vinyl coffin.<\/div>\n

With the advent of Record Store Day in 2008, there has been a rising affinity for vinyl records over other mediums. Current sales are estimated to be about 45 million units yearly. Much of our production recycles mispressings and used vinyl records.<\/div>\n
