It’s almost a month into the New Year. We have been hearing lots of fashion trends that will be popping up during 2013. First of all it’s all about color. The neon that was everywhere last year (& in the 80’s) is still a force however the color has subdued slightly and is easier to wear. The color combinations are less drastic and more complimentary even if they are super bright. Texture has always been a great part of fashion. This year lace is prominent with a sporty twist. Net is also back for Spring. Fashion for the workplace will borrow its vintage sentiments from the Mediterranean, lending a feminine softness. Belted florals, cut neck blouses with flowing fabrics, boucle jackets and suits and accessories such as document (or ipad) sized clutches, Sporty baseball caps, reinvented sexy cowgirl inspired platforms and cuff jewelry in mixed metals to name a few.

Specifically in optical the vintage wayfarer, slightly smaller (sporty) sunglasses and bold cat eye shapes are on the runways. Some of the most colorful trends were burgundy and sea blue along with many ombre versions.

Google co-founder teamed up with fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg to give Google Glasses a stylish launch. The glasses can superimpose information on the lenses and allow the wearer to send and receive messages via voice commands, similar to Siri. A built-in camera can record video and take pictures. Not sure if we are ready for the super high tech optical world yet but it will be in our future.
